What is an optical cable junction box

The optical cable transfer box is a connection device installed outdoors. The most fundamental requirement for it is to be able to withstand the drastic climate and harsh working environment. It should have the characteristics of waterproof gas condensation, waterproof and dustproof, anti-insect and rodent damage, and strong resistance to impact damage.


It must be able to withstand relatively harsh external environments. Therefore, the outside of the box has high requirements for waterproof, moisture-proof, dust-proof, impact damage, pest and rodent prevention, etc.; the inside of the box has very high requirements for temperature and humidity control.


According to international standards, the highest standard for these projects is IP66. But there are not many box shells that can meet this standard. The optical cable transfer boxes used in China mainly include: the original German KRONE box, the box is made of unsaturated polyester glass fiber reinforced material (SMC), which has good performance in terms of waterproof, moisture-proof and impact damage. The domestic imitation products of KRONE cabinets are mainly iron-based metal cabinets (generally reaching the IP65 standard).


For metal cabinets, due to their inferior performance in terms of waterproofing and condensation, they are destined not to be widely used and will be gradually eliminated. Some domestic imitation products are quite different from the KRONE imported from Germany in terms of waterproof gas condensation and impact resistance due to material performance problems. In addition, due to the poor anti-aging performance of the sealing strip, it is waterproof and dustproof. Performance is also average. Of course, when the external environment of the installation location of the optical cable transfer box is relatively good, it is acceptable to reduce the performance requirements and reduce the investment.

What is the purpose of the optical cable junction box?

1. This device is an interface device at the node of the backbone optical cable and the distribution optical cable in the optical fiber access network, which can realize the functions of optical fiber fusion, termination, storage and scheduling.


2. The distribution and scheduling of optical fibers are carried out on the front. The in and out lines of optical cables, pigtails and jumpers are independent of each other and do not interfere with each other. The operation is very convenient.


3. The drawer type tray structure is adopted, which integrates the welding and the terminal into a tray. The tray can be pulled out separately for construction, and the welding and the terminal are operated at the same level, no need to be turned over, and the operation is very convenient.


4. The adapter is installed at a right angle, which ensures the curvature radius of the fiber jumper, avoids laser burns on the eyes, and makes the operation of the optical fiber connector convenient and safe, and the adapter is detachable, which brings convenience to maintenance.


5. The equipment adopts optical cable branch parts to make the operations of fixing, stripping and grounding of optical cables more convenient and reliable. When the external cables are introduced, the optical cable branch parts can be taken out separately for construction, which is convenient for operation.


6. After introducing the optical cable, use the sealing water-stop glue in the accessories to block the optical cable hole. This sealing waterstop will expand when exposed to moisture, making the seal effective.


7. The protection level of the cabinet meets the requirements of IP65 in the standard.
