Usually, we need to eliminate the cause of the failure of the gigabit single-mode fiber optic module. We have ensured that the equipment can be used normally. The following steps are arranged for your reference.
Gigabit single-mode fiber module
1. Check whether the fiber jumper matches the optical module
Multimode fiber patch cords are commonly found in orange, and such fiber patch cords are printed with the words 62.5/125u or 50/125u. The single-mode fiber jumper usually has yellow and blue, etc., and the online printing is G652D or 9/125u. The optical fiber module is multi-mode (850nm wavelength), and the other colors are generally single-mode optical modules.
2. Self-loop inspection
The light emitted by the universal gigabit single-mode fiber module is visible light, which can be observed with the naked eye (do not look directly at the light-emitting port). The light-emitting port on the left side of the optical module is a red laser, and if there is light, it means normal operation. The light emitted by the single-mode optical module is invisible light. We can connect the transmitting port and the receiving port of the optical module with a jumper. If the working status light of the switch is on, it means that it is working normally.
3. Port configuration
If it still cannot communicate normally, we need to do the following configuration, taking H3C 5024P as an example. Now some of our commonly used switch ports are photoelectric multiplexing type, most of the optical ports are still closed, and these ports need to be manually opened. For the communication between switches of different brands, we also need to force the port rate and working mode to be 1000Mpbs and full-duplex mode.
4. Confirm whether it is compatible
Optical fiber modules usually need to write manufacturer information, which is what we often call compatibility. If the communication is still not normal, please contact customer service to see if your optical module is compatible with your equipment.
