The optical cable transfer box is a connecting device installed outdoors. The most fundamental requirement for it is to be able to withstand drastic changes in climate and harsh working environments. It should have the characteristics of waterproof condensation, waterproof and dustproof, insect pest and rodent proof, and strong resistance to impact damage.


It must be able to withstand relatively harsh external environments. Therefore, the outer side of the cabinet has relatively high requirements for waterproof, moisture-proof, dust-proof, impact-resistant damage, and pest-proof and rat-proof; the inner side has very high requirements for temperature and humidity control.


According to international standards, the highest standard of these items is IP66. But there are not many cabinet shells that can meet this standard. The optical cable transfer boxes used in China mainly include: the original German KRONE box, the box is made of unsaturated polyester glass fiber reinforced material (SMC), which has good performance in terms of waterproof, moisture-proof, and impact-resistant damage. The domestic reference KRONE cabinet imitation is a metal cabinet mainly made of iron (generally up to IP65 standard).


As for the metal box, due to its poor performance in terms of waterproofing and condensation, it is destined not to be widely used and gradually eliminated. Due to material performance problems, some domestic imitation products are quite different from KRONE imported from Germany in terms of waterproof, condensation and impact resistance. Performance is also average. Of course, when the external environment where the optical cable transfer box is installed is relatively good, it is acceptable to reduce performance requirements and reduce investment.


What are the types of optical cable transfer boxes

1. According to different transmission performance, distance and usage, optical cables can be divided into user optical cables, local telephone optical cables, long-distance optical cables and submarine optical cables.


2. According to the different types of optical fibers used in optical cables, optical cables can be divided into single-mode optical cables and multi-mode optical cables.


3. According to the number of optical fiber cores in the optical cable, the optical cable can be divided into single-core optical cable, double-core optical cable, etc.


4. According to different configuration methods of strength members, optical cables can be divided into central strength member optical cables, dispersed strength member optical cables, sheath strength member optical cables and comprehensive outer sheath optical cables.


5. According to the different conditions of transmission conductors and media, optical cables can be divided into metal-free optical cables, ordinary optical cables, and integrated optical cables (mainly used for railway dedicated network communication lines).


6. According to different laying methods, optical cables can be divided into pipeline optical cables, direct buried optical cables, overhead optical cables and underwater optical cables.


7. According to different structural methods, optical cables can be divided into flat structural optical cables, layer-stranded optical cables, skeleton optical cables, armored optical cables and high-density user optical cables.


What is the purpose of the optical cable transfer box

1. This device is the interface device at the node of the backbone optical cable and distribution optical cable in the optical fiber access network, which can realize the functions of optical fiber fusion, terminal, storage and scheduling.


2. The distribution and scheduling of optical fibers are carried out on the front, and the incoming and outgoing lines of optical cables, pigtails, and jumper fibers are independent, without interfering with each other, and the operation is very convenient.


3. The drawer-type tray structure is adopted, and the welding and terminal are integrated into one tray. The tray can be drawn out separately for construction. The welding and terminal are operated on the same level without turning over, and the operation is very convenient.


4. The adapter is installed at a right angle to ensure the curvature radius of the fiber jumper, avoid laser burns to the eyes, and make the operation of the optical fiber connector convenient and safe. The adapter is detachable, which brings convenience to maintenance.


5. The equipment adopts optical cable splitter parts to make the fixing, stripping and grounding of optical cables more convenient and reliable. When the outer cable is introduced, the optical cable splitter parts can be taken out separately for construction, which is convenient for operation.


6. After introducing the optical cable, use the sealing water-stop glue in the accessories to block the optical cable hole. This sealing water-stop glue will expand when exposed to moisture, making the sealing effect excellent.


7.The protection level of the box meets the requirements of IP65 in the standard.
