What are the functions of the optical fiber distribution frame? The selection of the optical fiber distribution frame should focus on the following aspects.
(1) Fiber core capacity
An optical fiber distribution frame should be able to completely put the optical cables with the largest number of cores in the office on the shelf. If possible, several optical cables that are more connected to each other can be placed in one frame to facilitate optical path deployment. At the same time, the capacity of the distribution frame should correspond to the series of common optical cable cores, so that the waste of capacity of the optical fiber distribution frame due to improper matching can be reduced or avoided during use.
(2) Types of functions
As the terminal equipment of the optical cable line, the optical fiber distribution frame should have four basic functions.
fixed function
After the optical cable enters the rack, the outer sheath and the strengthening core should be mechanically fixed, the ground wire protection component should be installed, the end protection treatment should be carried out, and the optical fibers should be grouped and protected.
Welding function
After the optical fiber drawn from the optical cable is fused with the tail cable, the excess optical fiber is coiled and stored, and the fusion joint is protected.
deployment function
Insert the attached connector on the tail cable into the adapter, and realize optical connection with the optical connector on the other side of the adapter. Adapters and connectors should be able to be plugged and pulled flexibly; the optical path can be freely deployed and tested.
storage function
Provides storage for optical cables for various cross-connects between racks so that they can be placed neatly and orderly. There should be a proper space and method in the optical fiber distribution frame, so that the routing of this part of the optical connection line is clear, easy to adjust, and can meet the requirements of the minimum bending radius.
With the development of optical fiber network, the existing functions of optical fiber distribution frame can no longer meet many new requirements. Manufacturers directly add some optical fiber network components such as optical splitters, wavelength division multiplexers, and optical switches to the optical fiber distribution frame. In this way, even if these components are conveniently applied to the network, functions and flexibility are added to the optical fiber distribution frame.
