Selection of Single Fiber Optical Transceiver

2022-12-20 16:03:57

When you only have one fiber optic cable? How to choose fiber optic transceiver?

A common fiber optic cable is a dual-core optical fiber, one of which is used to receive signals and the other to send signals. A single-core fiber uses a single fiber optic cable to simultaneously receive and transmit signals. According to the principle that light of different wavelengths cannot communicate, at least two optical signals of different wavelengths are transmitted in a single-mode fiber to achieve the effect of simultaneous reception and transmission.

Therefore, the optical fiber transceiver also needs to be purchased separately. Ordinary fiber optic transceivers can be used alone or in pairs. However, single-core optical fiber transceivers must be used in pairs. Generally speaking, this end is R5T3, and the opposite end is R3T5. (This end receives 1550nm and sends 1310nm. The opposite end receives 1310nm and sends 1550nm).

Therefore, after choosing a single-fiber optical transceiver, you need to pay attention to pairing during use. That is, the 1310nm transmitter and the 1310 receiver are used in pairs. Generally, manufacturers will have AB in the model. Then when using it, the A-side transceiver can be connected to the B-side transceiver, and AA and BB cannot be paired.
