Standard LC fiber patch cords are formed from a pair of fibers, each in a jacket, terminated by a pair of LC connectors. They are typically multimode OM fibers that can take the burden of dense port connections from a data center environment. Using a standard LC patch cord results in a 2x increase in the number of fibers per fiber port.
LC Uniboot Fiber Structure
LC uniboot fibers are used for duplex transmission in one 2.4mm or 3.0mm fiber, two fibers in one physical fiber, and are designed to reduce the footprint on the patch panel by 50 when connecting two optical ports %, and only need to locate one fiber instead of two. Therefore, the space requirements for wiring can be greatly reduced by LC single-guide fiber jumpers.
The flexible structure of the final LC connector brings major advantages. They are designed to easily switch the polarity of the fiber just by manipulating the connector, without the need for special tools. We now offer LC single-lead fiber patch cords with push-in taps. This small change allows for easier finger operation and quicker release of the latch.
polarity reversal
Polarity reversal is much easier for LC uniboot jumpers. Often, the polarity can be easily changed in a few simple steps without additional tools. In principle, there are two practical ways to change the polarity:
Type one: By switching the A and B positions in the connector of each fiber.
Type Two: Rotate the connector 180 degrees to swap positions.
LC Uniboot Patch Feature Summary
Full duplex in a single 3mm or 2.4mm diameter fiber;
Provide OM3, OM4, OM5, OS1/OS2 (ITU-T G.652D or G.657A1) or ITU-T G.657A2 fiber types;
with enhanced or low-loss advanced optical properties;
Available in LSZH, Plenum and Riser rated 2.4mm or 3mm diameter fibers;
cost-effective;
Save up to 70% of cabinet and fiber trough space;
Protect the correct network polarity.
In addition to space saving and easy polarity change, LC Uniboot Fiber Optic Patch Cords have powerful features that allow for more possibilities. Fiber network designs can be more flexible without having to worry about space and polarity issues. Fiber optic cabling is faster and of reliable quality, saving a lot of time and money.
However, the design and improvement of single-guide fiber optic patch cords have never stopped. LC uniboot fiber patch cords with push-in-tap make finger changes easier with faster latch release. The connection and disconnection of one fiber patch cord will not affect other surrounding links.
